'The Wait' Shibden Hall, Halifax
Shibden Hall is a beautiful manor house near Halifax, West Yorkshire, UK. Though a well known attraction locally for many years, it has recently received international recognition as the former home of Anne Lister - the 19th Century diarist, businesswoman, traveller and lesbian.
My painting is part of a series depicting buildings that inspired Wuthering Heights. Its author, Emily Brontë, spent time nearby working as a teacher at a girls' school in Southowram.
