Ovenden Moor rises above Halifax in West Yorkshire and is exposed to the worst of the weather at any time of year. Winter is especially harsh and it will snow here first, blanketing the moor in a sea of white. The sheep are particularly hardy and seem undisturbed by the cold - always remaining curious. This painting depicts the snow illuminated by a setting sun filtered through the thick clouds.
