Emily Brontë 200

July 2018 - 2019 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Emily Brontë.

For this occasion I have produced a series of paintings, some representational, some metaphorical - but all of them based on one idea. In 1837, Emily Brontë taught at a small school for girls at Law Hill, Southowram (near Halifax, West Yorkshire). Whilst there she came across buildings and heard stories that heavily influenced both her poetry and her only novel, Wuthering Heights.
